Too Excited

Hi Marjorie,

I wanted to ask you if my bulldog's pregnancy would be affected by all her barking and excitement from yesterday's fireworks.  I stayed with her for the entire night locked in a dark room but she would still hear the fireworks and bark.  She barked all night and finally calmed herself down at about 3:00am. What worried me also was her heavy breathing at times she seemed like she could faint from all the excitement.  Do you know if too much excitement can jeopardize a pregnancy? She's close to 3 years of age and this would be her first pregnancy...

Well, it isn't the best situation but hopefully the puppies will be ok. If it's early in her pregnancy, the risk is higher. Stress isn't good no matter what but just watch her carefully and if you see any colored discharge at all, get her to the vet asap.
