Jumping and barking

Question
My wife and I recently took charge of our son's 16-month old English bulldog, as he was unable to care for it.  We had the dog neutered last month almost immediately and have him now in dog obedience training.  He's a good dog, but very undisciplined.  He's generally OK with my wife and me (although he does nip at her occasionally when I'm not here), but he jumps at and licks strangers who come to our house, to an extent that we just can't have him out of his crate when friends visit us.  We have been using vinegar spray and NO commands when he jumps, licks, and barks.  He actually barks infrequently--pretty much only when the cat antagonizes him.
My question:  what more can we do to get him to behave better when visitors come to our house.  Hate to crate him all the time, but we have no other choice at the moment.
Another question:  His stools are quite loose.  We have him on a mixture of Royal Canine bulldog food and Kirkland's Signature Chicken, Rice, and Vegetable.  Any recommendations for better food?
Thank you.

Answer
You've just inherited an ill behaved, spoiled child! Obedience classes will definitely help. Regarding his behavior when you have visitors, put him in his crate when they arrive, let things settle down, and then let him out. Vinegar spray is a waste of time. This is just a situation that will get better with time and consistency. Consider that he's changed homes, been neutered and has all new friends in a very short time. Patience is the key.

You might try Eukanuba dry dog food for medium sized dogs, no canned food at all. It might be a good idea to have a fecal exam done to find out if parasites or bacteria may be causing the loose stools.
