Question
QUESTION: Hello I have a 6 month male English bulldog.  He has been on Eukanuba puppy until a couple weeks ago.  Now he is on Wellness puppy.  He has had small scabs on his head and in his ears.  He is getting bald spots behind his ears.  He has been to the vet on separate locations.  He said it was allergy's And put him on benedryl. It got worse vet did a skin scrape, bacteria, fungus, parasite test's and all were neg.  He put him on a hypo shampoo And prednisone.  Also had me switch his flea med to Promeris.  He said He was treating it as parasites.  It cleared up his ears but just noticed another scabs on his back.  He has also been on Nuvet plus 2X a day for about 2 weeks

ANSWER: Hi Todd, Sounds like your vet is doing a good job with him.  You just made the food change.... The eukanuba was full of junk fillers... Give his body some time to filter it all out.  As for the NuVET Plus, give that some time, too!  It took some time to get this way and it may take some time for the new program to work.

I would give the new food and NuVET at least 90 days.  Then, you can decide is the new program is working.  English Bullies are known for skin and coat problems.... This can go on and off thru his lifetime.
You just need to keep feeding quality food and giving quality supplements.

You should be able to reduce the prednisone, in time.  This has to be reduced slowly as to not shock his system.

Again, give him some time to heal and build up his immunity.

Write to me in 30 days with an update!!!

BEST of Luck

QUESTION: Do you consider Wellness brand a good food with less fillers?  Is there anything you would suggest for his coat other than what I am doing?

Answer
Wellness is an excellent food for him...
As for the coat - you can add vitamin E at 50IU per day   (just one)-
He is getting some in the food and NuVET but not enough so add the 50IUs - don't worry, this is a cat size dosage to add.

Good JOB

Keep up the good work...

Oh, you can get him distilled water - it may help, too
