Runny nose, hacking cough

Question
We have an 11 week old female english bulldog.  We purchased her from a breeder on 3/9/07 and she was flown from Dallas to Houston that day.  That night she starting having thick green nasal discharge.  The next day we took her to our vet's office where they gave her an antibiotic.  A couple of days later she had gotten worse and began hacking as if trying to cough something up but nothing comes up.  We took her back to the vet and they gave her a second antibiotic to take.  She did not have fever either time.  It's now been a week since then and she is no better, though the discharge isn't thick and green, it's more yellowish or a cloudy clear color.  But the hacking is worse, and when she sleeps, she appears to have serious difficulty breathing.  When she's awake, she breathes okay, has energy and has a healthy appetite.

How can we know if it's an upper respiratory infection or has it turned into pneumonia?  Could it be kennel cough or distemper - hopefully not, but searching the internet, some of her symptoms are consistent with these.  We're looking for advice on how we should move forward - should we get a second opinion from a different vet, are there vets that specialize in bulldog care, can supplements help - which ones, and have you seen the use of vaporizers help.  Sorry for all the questions, just want to care for her the best we can and hopefully get her well soon.

Thank you very much

Answer
You need to get this puppy to another vet right away. The upper respiratory infection has turned into pneumonia and there's a good chance she might die without competent medical care. Any vet should be able to treat this but most don't take into consideration how serious these types of infections are in Bulldogs, especialy puppies.  She needs to be on something strong, like Clavamox or preferably Baytril.
