Fruits and Vegetables?

Question
Hi, Marjorie
I have a pregnant bulldog that is just starting to crave everything she sees in sight.  We're eating and there she is looking at us.  It breaks my heart not to give in to her cute eyes when she looks at me that way so I take her to the backyard where she has her food and fresh water.  But, the problem is that this past weekend, I caught my niece giving her some watermelon and the bulldog was eating it!  She was also eating the vegetables and red meat my niece refused to eat at dinner time.  I am concerned since she is on her 25th day of pregnancy. I want to know if eating red meats, veggies and fruits is bad for her health. Although, it looked like she was really loving it because she literally swallowed the meat.

Answer
Vegetables are fine. A small amount of fruit is fine but be careful of the sugar. Red meat is fine in small amounts. Stick with carrots and squash or beans, broccoli will be too gassy. Fruit, stay away from citrus, apples, pears, watermelon, fine.
Red meat, maybe a couple of ounces a day if you feel the need. Just don't over do. You don't want her gaining an unusual amount of weight.
