Bulldog tear stains

I have a 4 month old bulldog with a white face.  He has very bad tear stains.  I have tried a number of things which haven't helped, including contact lens cleaner with boric acid. The vet suggested Angel Eyes which I have started.  Will this be harmful to him in anyway?

I'm not familiar with "angel eyes" at all, but if you start putting white vinegar in his drinking water the tear stains will go away. It balances the pH in his system.

It's given at the rate of 1 oz per qt of water, but you may have to start out with a smaller amount until he gets used to the taste. It takes about 2-4 weeks before you notice the change and then it's forever unless you want the stains to return.
