english bulldog skin problem

Our bulldog develops patchy fur loss and dry, flaky skin during September; this year worse than previous years. No change in diet, food or eating times and appetite remains good. During this period, she tends to get an oily feel to the fur. I use a regular pet shampoo and bathe her once a month. Any ideas?

If you use some type of flea control product during this time, that might be the answer. If not, it might just be as simple as a flea allergy. It would appear to be some type of contact dermatitis. If it presents a more serious problem, you might consider allergy testing.
