family pet?

researching breeds....looking at the american bulldog as one option. We have a 6 year old and a 13 year old children. I heard these are not a good breed for kids. Also heard they have a lot of eye problems that require medical attention quite often.

Answer
There are good and bad dogs in every breed.  However, American Bulldogs are great companion dogs for active families. They do require obedience training in order to be well adjusted family members as do most dogs in my opinion.

They have no eye problems that I'm aware of.

If you're concerned about having a good dog with children, I suggest you seek out an AB breeder who has dogs without "high prey drive".  There's a lot of good dogs out there.  You just have to do your homework.
