Question
Hi. I recentely purchased an Olde English Bulldog - for the most part he is great, but there are times when he seems to be aggressive. He will be playing and then start barking/growling and the other day he snapped at my girlfriend. She put him to the ground face up to let him know that she was the boss. Should the dog be doing this? Do you think that it is just a playful thing that he might be taking too far? I really do not want to have an aggressive dog in my house. We are going to take him to puppy classes in the near future...What do you think?

Answer
Kelly,

You are going to have to break him of his aggressiveness.  It is never good to have a dog that is aggressive or starts to bite - especially a bulldog.  They have very strong jaws.

You not play with him in a way that he get aggressive.  If you see it happening, you need to stop playing.  You are just going to have to be very calm with him until he learns that aggressive play is a no-no.

Puppy class would probably be good, as long as it is calm and he doesn't get excited.
