Question
I am thinking about buying a bulldog. I have a friend who bred his Victorian bulldog with an English bulldog. I know the history of the Victorian and how it is basically a healthier version of an English created by Ken Mallet.. basically an English bulldog on steroids, but with these two mixed, is it going to grow up big as a Victorian or small like an English(i figure taller then an English but shorter then the Victorian)...

I'm only asking you because I can not seem to find anyone or any picture of the bigger stronger Victorian bred back with an English...by your expertise, do you think the two bred together will make a good companion?

Answer
I fail to see the purpose to breed a Victorian back to an English Bulldog. It defeats the entire concept of why the Victorian was created, to eliminate the health issues of the English  Bulldog.

As far as a companion dog, I don't see why that would be an issue at all as long as both parents have good dispositions. However, health issues would be a serious concern.

I find that the reason people who own Olde English  Bulldogges, Victorian Bulldogges, etc. breed back to AKC Bulldogs is because they have a difficult time selling puppies without the "bulliness". Bulldogs sell and if your puppies have an extreme bully appearance, you have no trouble placing them.
