Stomach problems after surgery

Question
I have a one year old english bulldog who just had patella surgery on his left rear leg, he also got fixed and during this procedure he quit breathing and had to also have throat surgery on his soft palette. Since the surgery they have kept him at the hospital because of him vomiting and not being able to hold food or water down, he had a lot of air in his stomach and is still on iv fluids. I just wanted to know if you had any idea on what was causing the vomiting and not being able to hold food down?

Answer
This is just my opinion, but I believe the dog was under anesthesia too long. Those surgeries combined take hours generally. That's a long time for a Bulldog to be under. They do not shed anesthesia well at all.

A client of mine took their 4 month old female in to have her spayed and the geniuses decided to do her soft palate at the same time. She never did recover and eventually was euthanized. I am replacing the puppy regardless of the vet's incompetence.

I often wonder if subconsciously vets know when something is going badly so they try to do more than has to be done in order to get the biggest return. That may sound paranoid, but I hear stories like yours all the time.
