Tracheal Wash

Question
My english bulldog is 6 months old and was diagnosed with pneumonia a little over a month ago. She has since recovered but on her most recent radiograph (taken about two weeks ago) the vet found that she has an infiltrated trachea that could be a result of the pneumonia, or an indication of an underlying problem. I'm bringing her in for another radiograph this evening and he said if he sees the same problem he would do a tracheal wash to get rid of the infiltration. The veterinarians at the animal hospital are very familiar with treating bulldogs, but I'm still worried since this procedure requires sedation. Is this a relatively common problem/procedure for bulldogs and what is the average recovery period? Thanks so much for your help.

Answer
Honestly, I've never heard of this procedure. However, if you're in a place where you have experienced Bulldog vets, I'm sure you couldn't be in better hands. Anesthesia is always a risk no matter what the situation is, or the breed of dog for that matter.
