Question
QUESTION: Hi, Lauren.
I have a 10 gallon tank currently has 5 male guppies.  I have several newborn mollies in my 45g tank.  One of the newborns has interesting markings and if it survives and is male (I want to cut down on the number of babies), I was thinking of putting it in with my guppies.  Would this cause a problem?  Also would adding a male betta at a later date to this same tank cause any issues?
  Thanks for your time.

ANSWER: the molly will be fine, but are your guppies males...?

sometimes (not all the time) betta's can mistake male guppies for male betta's and will kill them, so whether you add one or not its your choice.

i have 3 betta's in different tanks and 2 of them live and are fine with guppies but the other one will destroy a male guppy ESPECIALLY if he is the same colour as himself...not sure why that is but he does.

QUESTION: yes, my guppies are male.  A female betta, then?  This betta question is just for future reference because if I get a real pretty male molly or two, then there wont be room for any other fish.

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Ermmm...a female betta would probably be better but the same will apply...females can sometimes be worse than the males.
i would (if you have the room by the end lol) try and get a male betta thats not the same colour as your guppies and see how it goes...
