barbs,angelfish,gouramis,silver dollars

Question
i had them in the bag in my tank for 15mins..then i added some of my aquarium water to the bag..then left them in there for an additional 20 mins...
the kissing gourami did bother them for a while..but all seemed well after bout an hour or so...
the fish are in the transport bag for bout 15 mins or so...
i have tried barbs from various pet stores...and still same result...
after reading some net sites...i am concluding that it is the temperature
it appears that the barbs need colder water...could this be the case
or do you feel the temperature of 80 degrees is fine?

thank you so much

i have had my tank running for a little over a year now...i have 2 angel fish, 2 silver dollars,4 gouramis,1 cherry barb and 2 butterfly fish in a 55 gallon tank,,emporer 400 filter...temperatute is 80degrees ...ph is between 7 and 7.4...ammonia is down and so is nitrite...
these fish are healthy and excellent...but everytime i try to add a new barb--tinfoil or tiger...they die within a few hours...
can you give any suggestion or ideas as to why

Hi Adan;

What method of acclimating do you use, or how long do you float them in the bag before adding to the tank?

Are they in the transport bag for very long after they catch them at the fish store?

Do the other fish seem to bother the new ones?

Followups welcome

Answer
Hi Adan;

Barbs are fine in 75 to 82 degrees, so I don't think that's it. I really don't know what the problem is. You might pose the question on our freshwater fish forum. Perhaps another expert there can help......
