Question
Hi, I have an acrylic tank I used for saltwater tank. It has not been used in awhile and has a white hard build up on the inside. I need to clean it as i will be setting it up again. What can i use that wont damage the acrylic?

Answer
Hi Paul;

Just plain white vinegar and paper towels works pretty well. Soak some paper towels in pure vinegar and let them stick to the mineral buildup. Leave them for several minutes and then use the paper towels to rub the white areas. Just don't wait so long that the vinegar dries. It may take several applications but it is safe and rinses clear without leaving any harmful residue. Rinse it all out completely before using the tank.

The good news about mineral stains on the inside of tanks is that you won't see most of it once the tank has water in it. They show up shockingly well when the tank is dry. That means that even if you don't get all of it off, it probably won't show much.

Good luck...
