Red Tail Shark and possible ICK!!!! HELP!!

Question
I have a 2 yr old Red Tail Shark in a 60 gal tank with 4 Blood Parrot Cichlids, a common Pleco and 2 Angel Fish (these two are temporarily in this tank till their 55 gal tank cycles.  they were given to me by friends because they moved and couldn't accommodate the 55 gal tank anymore).  The Angel fish have been in the 60 gal for 6 days now.  I was watching them all after feeding and noticed that my shark has 2 little white specks on his red tail!  I am freaking out because I have never had ICK in a tank before (I currently have 5 tanks) and I am afraid that all my fish in this tank are now in danger, plus I don't know how to properly treat the shark.  He has survived many tank changes over the past two years of having him (due to his aggressive nature he has been moved from a 20 gal, 29 gal and 40 gal tank.  He has been in the 60 gal tank for over a month and actually has been doing very well getting along with the cichlids.  He has not been showing any signs of stress prior to today when I noticed him flashing on a pot cave).
None of the other fish have anything on them.  I do regular partial water changes weekly of 25% due to the pleco and Blood Parrots being messy fish.  The water has tested a little high in ammonia ( 0.5) but the nitrates and nitrites are at 0.0.  Tank temp is 80 degrees.

I have a small 10 gal tank tat I can set up for a hospital tank for the shark, but having never had to do this before I need assistance with treating him properly.  I am hoping that in catching this when there are only 2 little specks on him will make his recovery chances better.

Do I treat the entire tank?
What about the Pleco? Will treatments harm it?
There is only one live plant in the tank (onion plant on driftwood), the rest are plastic.  I can take that out while treating tank, but how do I make sure it doesn't recontaminate the tank once treatments are finished?
There are 2 hanging power filters on the tank, do I tear them down after treating tank?  What about beneficial bacteria? Will treatments kill it?
HELP PLEASE!!!

Answer
Hi,
Believe it or not, Rainbow sharks are one of my favorite fish. They are very resilient to disease being a member of the cyprinidae (common carp) family.

My advice it to slowly turn the temperature up to at least 82F, this will kill off the ick in the larval stage of it's development. Basically, Don't panic about ick. 9/10 times it goes away all by it's self. Just worry about that ammonia. Stress coat and ammonia filter media usually work, but with the water changes it should go away too. It's the cichlids, as you mentioned.
