feed snails other insects to my cichlids?

Question
I am a relatively experienced fish keeper but am not too experienced with feeding a variety of food to them. I have a large garden and have lots of snails and other bugs I'm wondering about any dangers with feeding them to my fish.  I have mainly african cichlids and a couple central american cichlids, angels, and swordtails.  I know any wasted snails will pollute the water so other than that is it ok?  Most of my fish have mouths too small so I'll have to cut the snails up, I guess it's time to get some new big guys like some jaguars, thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Carl,
Personally I would not feed garden snails to my fishes.  Garden snails have some impressive amounts of slime in them and when they die, they tend to REALLY pollute the water.  Earthworms, on the other hand, are great fish food.
