Question
Hello there, I have a 40 gallon tank with 4 small barbs, algae eater, and 3 tin foil barbs.  One of the tin foil barbs is 10 years old and he is not eating and the other 2 have red streaks on their bodies and one has on their fins as well, I am treating the tank with Pimaflex for 3 days now, but only 1/2 of what I should be using as my 10 year old barb swims around and goes upside down and then manages to swim and this goes on for about 1 hour or so, so I am not sure if he can't handle the medication or if he is too old or what the plm is.  I am also wondering I accidently put some Mardel in the tank the day before I added the pimaflex, however, I did a partial water change then started the pimaflex.
Any suggestions as to what I should be using or what could be the fishes problem, the other fish weren't eating for about 1 week and today they finally ate some frozen brine shrimp, but the older one still isn't eating.
Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Nikki,
It is very hard to say what is wrong with your fish.  Have you been doing regular weekly water changes?  If not, you should be changing 25% of the water in the tank once a week, every week.

I doubt that a little of the Mardel medication could be causing any problems.

If I were you, I would change 25% of the water today and then change another 25% tommorrow and see if that helps.
