Betta color change

Question
Hello,

A few days ago I got a silvery-blue male Betta. 24 hours later, he is bright red. There are a few vistages of the blue he once was on the edges of his body, but he has definately changed color, and quite ostentatiously. I've been reading about Betta color change, but no one seems to have experienced quite a dramatic and rapid change. He's eating and doesn't seem upset or sick, so I'm wondering if it's indicative of a problem? Thank you.

Answer
Color change in a beta is usually the cause of an environmental change. The fact that your beta still has color means that it probably isnt any actual problem. As you said, he is eating fine. So make sure that your are only feeding 2 to 3 pellets a day, and that your beta is warm, the bowl should be somewhere around 75 degrees F. If its much cooler than that, it may have been what caused the color change, or it may have been to cool in the little container they were keeping him in before you got him home.

Good Luck,
Andy
