how long can fish go without water

how long can fish survive without water?

well it does depend on the species of fish, but i had a female betta that was in the tank, i had just put the net in to collect dead leaves that were floating around in the tank. i went out to play and she jumped out, i had been gone 2 hours and there she was bone dry and crispy stuck in the net not touching the water on the side of the tank, i could have snapped her in half effortlessley...

i dont know why, but luckily i did, i dropped her back into the water, but into a breeders net thing and she sunk to the bottom of it, i thought that was it, she was gone..but then her gills started moving, for 3 days she was still crispy and couldnt swim or move, but she survived and lived another years and had some wonderful babies with my male...sadly she has passed on now =[
