corn or rosy boa for pet

Question
I have a friend who has a 2 yr old rosy boa who is in great health & is very good with me. My friend can no longer keep it and I would love to have it. I dont know if its a male or female. What kind of teeth do they have? If it would bite me what can I expect? Do they have fangs? Or should I purchase a hatchling corn snake(which are so beautiful & colorful)-which snake would be less likely to bite & hurt me the worst? Thank You

Answer
Hi Claire,

Boas have rows of teeth. They do not hurt much at all. When I get bit by my redtail boa it does not hurt at all. It just surprises me. Whatever you do with any snake do not pull your hand away fast. The snake will let go once it realizes you are not food.

The rosy boa will get to be pretty big around 6-8 feet. The corn maybe 4-5. They are both great snakes. My choice would be corn snake, only because of the variety of colorations you can find. I think the best snake would be a ball python, they are very docile and do not get to large. You can visit my site and learn about them.

See you there, be sure to join the ball python forum.
