red-tailed boa is suddenly very aggro

Question
hi
my juvenile red-tailed boa is suddenly very aggressive towards me, she usually is extremly friendly, and i am not sure why, i think it might have something to do with its new cage-mate (a baby corn snake) the reason this surprises me is because of the size difference the boa is about 160cm long and the corn only 30cm. i house the 2 of them in a 250cm cage so i didnt think it would be an issue.
i love this boa she is like my best-friend so any idea how i can improve her behavior will really be appreciated

Answer
Hi Rey,
I can help! Get that corn snake out of the enclosure ASAP! It is a bad idea to house any snakes together unless for breeding. Please get 2 enclosures ASAP. Not only might your corn snake become lunch for the RTB, but they both carry their own sets of problems, diseases, etc... I am not scolding you here as I made this mistake many moons ago with a Dumeril's Boa and a Western Hognose. The Hognose was lunch; not a good thing.

Regarding the aggressiveness, it is hard to say what the cause is. It could be the new cagemate. It could be the change of season. Make sure your husbandry is correct and start handling her with gardner's gloves until she calms down. RTB's are generally good natured and I am sure she will improve with time.
