Question
hello, i have had my baby ball for about 3 weeks, i have been instructed by the pet shop to assisst feed him (force feed)and have been shown how to do it, this was becouse non of there balls were feeding. i have fed him twice and he usuly has a few wight poos the next day, he has also had one small brownish one since ive had him. Is it normal for ball pythons to have wight poos and have i been given the correct advice from the pet shop - he wont eat when i wabble fluffs at him. Also he seems to be quight active in the day time and in the night and seems to go for naps, his cage is kept around 85 centergrad in one end and 75 cent at the over and the temp drops a little at nights, hide places in both sides, using a lamp and heat mat at hot end of cage is this behavour normal. He also seems quight happy to be handeled

Answer
Hello Fred,

The pet store is giving very bad advice. You should only feed a snake if it has not eaten for over one whole year. This practice can potentially cause health problems.

Give your snake some time to adjust to its new environment. Keep offering your snake prey items ever seven days. It will eventually take the prey. It sounds like the pet store might be selling wild hatched ball pythons. You should bring a fresh poop to your vet and have them look for parasites.

As for the color of the poop. The white parts are actually its urine or pee. Ther dark parts is the prey items waste.

Hope this helps,
