QuestionHi. I have two albino Burmese pythons about 700mm long one female and one male. They both seem pretty healthy. Tank has a heater mat with an electronic thermostat set on 28 degrees C. Not sure on the humidity but do have a fair size water bowl inside the tank. Now the problem is the one snake, I have never seen his tongue come out? Since I got him (her) in December. And he wont eat either. Tried mice and rats. He is not interested. Now I have read that if a snake puts his tongue out all the time it is a sign of good health? Must I take him to the vet or what?
AnswerHello Peterjon,
I would indeed bring him to the Vet. Snakes taste the environment with their tongue. This is how the sense what is going on around them. When a snake does not do this especially after being held for a few minutes, it is discerning.
