Question
Hi, I have a 2 yr ols corn snake, which I bought from a reptile show in Orlando in Fl.She has been feeding on samll rats up every 7-9 days, up until 17 days ago, which was the last time she fed. She has refused 2 feeds since, just ignoring the food. She gas shed twice since I bought her. Yesterday being the last time. When I was checking she had shed all her skin, I noticed a 2" lump in her midsection. She is still going the toilet and it looks normal.Last time she went was yesterday after the shed. she is still active and is happy to be handled. I was going to try her with a smaller rodent this week end. What could the lump be?

Answer
Hi Louis -

It could be a cyst, or a tumor. In any case, it needs to be looked at by a vet ASAP. Because she is still shedding on a regular basis, I don't think it's an urgent care matter but attention should be sought out soon. Most are easily removed with little or no scarring, especially since it is a young snake.
