Question
1) I've had my corn snake for almost 4 years now, and I think it's time to
move her up to a larger cage. She's about 4 1/2 feet long now, so I'm a little
curious to see what size containment I should look for. Any suggestions?

And 2) I read on the site that in winter months, snake will sometimes not eat.
However, I was wondering at what span of time should I actually become
concerned?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Stonewall,
1. She will probably never grow to over 6', so 4' X 2; would be the minimum. I have a corn in a 4' X 3' X 1' and it works out great. He has more than enough room. I would build it yourself. It doesn't have to be elaborate or flashy, keep it simple. Shoot me your email addy and I will send you a pic of my enclosures.

2. That is correct. Snakes are all different and honestly, weird. I have a macklot's python that eats 6 months out of the year and fasts the other 6 months. I have a female macklot's that eats every week, no matter the season. With a 4.5' corn, I would not be concerned unless she goes over 2-3 months without eating (providing there are no other signs of illness or dehydration etc.) Keep offering though. She will eat eventually. Let me know if I can be of further help.
