Aggressive Ball/Royal Python

Question
Hi, thanks in advance to anyone who can help...I've had my ball python, Osiris, for about a year now. He's always been extremely healthy (been to the herp. vet. twice) and super friendly. He's never been shy but not aggressive either. About three weeks ago I noticed he was having some weird behavior. He was sitting in his cage in the striking position (S) and moving his head very fast side to side in response to my movements. I left him alone that day but the next day I took him out of his hide to hold him. He seemed kind of strange, he wasn't curiously looking around as he usually does but wrapping himself around my wrist pretty tightly, i got up to put him back since he was starting to rub his heat vents on the back of my hand when he struck me. It didnt really hurt it was just a big surprise. I submerged him in water to get him off, which worked like a charm but he was super aggressive and I had to put a pot holder on my hand to grab him and put him back in the tank. I usually hold him 1 per day for about 20 minutes. His temp is 77 degrees on the cool end, 90-95 degrees on the hot end and he has two hides, one on the cool end where he spends most of his time, one on the hot end. HIs last BM was about 2 weeks ago and his last shed about 2 months ago. I'd guess he's average weight and about 1ft and 4" long. I feed him one adult mouse every 5-7 days that is about the width around as the fattest part of his body. He usually eats this pretty greedily and seems to want more right afterward. ( feed him in a seperate enclosure) So i figured maybe he bit me because he was hungry so now I feed him 2 adult mice per week now. He still seems to want more. I know I should keep holding and handling him but I have to admit I'm a little gunshy now. So as I am not one to give up, I put gloves on and I opened his tank today to hold him and show him who's boss but as soon as I lifted the hide rock up he struck and then proceeded to go back to the (S)position and as soon as i touched him close to the bottom third of his body he swung around very fast to strike and I pulled my hand out just in time. I don't know what to do! He's been really good up until now but I want a snake that I can hold and trust. I am aware he is still a wild animal (though he was bred and hatched in captivity) But his temperment has completely changed. What should I do? I'll take him to the vet but he seems really healthy, no respitory problems, eye infections, nothing...I don't want to take him and have them charge me 75$ to tell me something you guys could clue me in on.

Answer
That is a BIG change in behavior. I have never heard of one so severe.

I can honestly say I have not really a clue on what would have made him so aggressive so fast. There is a remote chance that he has not shed his eye-caps so he can't rightly see. But other than that, the history you gave me ruled out practically everything.

The only time that it is this fast normally, is when the animal is being abused. And I do not get that feeling from how much you have told me about Osiris.

Let him chill for a week without touching him. Other than that...
