Question
i have a snake i found in my dining room one afternoon 7 yrs ago. a pet store told me it was an egyptian sand boa. It eats live pinky mice, 1 or rarely 2 a month. 3 months ago it stopped feeding, and appears to yawn frequently. it still takes water. is it possible that it's jaw has become unhinged? i gave it a mouse the other day, it bit the mouse, and left it alone as it died immediately. is there anything i can do for my pet?

Answer
Hello Rosemary,

It is not very common, but could happen. Have ever observed this behavior before. Meaning every winter season. Snakes are very sensitive to the temp changes and this could cause them to fast for a couple months at a time. I would continue to try to feed it every week. You should not worry until you notice a great change in weight. There is no telling how old your snake actually is. It could be nearing the end of it's life. I really can not say.

Just continue to try to feed, hope this helps.
