dumeril boa

Question
I bought my dumeril boa two months ago.  The pet shop where I bought him said he was bitten on the top of his head by a small mouse.  I cleaned the area and it has healed, this morning I checked him and his head, well the under part, is swollen. I feed him dead mice and since I have had him has eaten twice.

Answer
Hi Lin,

When you touch the area does it feel like it is filled with liquid? If so you need to bring him to the vet.

When you feed him are you temping the mouse? The temp should be around 75-80 degrees. I never recommend people feed frozen thawed if this is what you are doing. If you are this can cause major problems if the mouse is not thawed all the way or if it is to hot. It can kill a snake fast.

If your feeding pre-killed mice then your all good.

Hope this helps,
Eric
