Question
Hi BPC,
I am planning to buy a female California king snake, I don't have any experience with reptiles. Therefore I will really appreciate if you could tell me how to take care of her from feeding to how her tank has to be. Also how to touch a snake to don't make her upset or uncomfortable. She is still a baby so she is very small, furthermore I will like to be ready when she starts shedding. I will like to bring her every where I go, would that be fine? and if it is should I bring something else with me? I am extremely anxious to have her and play with her, but I fear to do something wrong with her and I really don't want to harm her in anyway. I understand it is going to be kind of a challenge to have her but I am willing to take good care of her.

         Sincerely.

Answer
CA kings are known as "poopers" they tend to deficate a lot when held.  It's not a big deal, but if that bothers you perhaps a corn snake or a ball python might be a better starter.  Taking it with you everywhere you go is not really a good idea.  Unless of course, everywhere you go is going to be at the proper temperature and humidity for THE SNAKE.  CA kings like it fairly dry and fairly hot.  60% or less humidity and high 80's in the basking spot.  They can handle large temperature drops at night.  Keep a dish of water in the cage large enough for the snake to get into completely in needed.  Shredded aspen or even playsand will work as a substrate for a CA king.  As to handling-do not reach into the cage like a giant bird, approach with a flat hand and gently pick up and support w/o squeezing.  She should be able to handle shedding on her own.
