Question
I will be leaving around the first of the year and will be driving a uhaul from CA to PA. I will be on the road approximately 5 days traveling. I will be staying in a hotel each night. I am or would like to take my 5 1/2 year old corn snake. I plan to take his terrarium and keep it in the uhaul with me when I am traveling and then into the hotel at night. Sometimes I will carry him around my neck to the pet store, but outside of that he has not been in the car. I need to know if he will be okay for about 8 to 10 hours a day in his terrarium while in the uhaul and then I can plug in his heater at night in the hotel.  What I am looking for is advice on the best and safest way to get him to the east coast as trauma free as possible.

Answer
If he is up front with you where the temp is 70 to 80 degrees, he will be fine. Sit him up on the seat to get him as high as possible, the hotter the better (within reason). Another option would be to have a friend overnight him via UPS the day you arrive, but I really think the ride in the cab of the truck will be easier on him than the risks you take with UPS. If you do decide to ship him, google how to ship a snake for detailed instructions.
