corn snakes and sand

Question
I have a 1 year old golden Oketee corn. Is it ok to use exo-terra desert sand in his tank?

I have heard of some people using that as a substrate but others warning not to use it as it could be ingested. I don't think that I'd take the chance, but if you do decide to try it, make sure you feed your snake in a seperate container. Personally I prefer shredded aspen beddding, newspapers, or paper towel.
