ball python turned pink

Question
Our ball python is about 10 years old. His belly turned pink. Should we take him
to a herpetologist vet? He appears to be in shed. I'm not sure, but I think there
may be a foul odor coming from the room where the snake's cage is.

Answer
Hello Teri,

I think you should change the substrate in your snake's cage.  This is the leading cause of the lingering odor.  If the substrate is wet, it can cause the under belly to be pink. It can also be that your snake is getting ready to shed because sometimes the belly will turn pink during that time also.

Hope this helps.
