weird incident

Hi I have a healthy 3 foot ball python which eats a small rat once a week or so some time two weeks. Any way my buddy decides he wants to see my fella eat a bigger rat, ive never tried this before and said it was fine so the snake kills the rat gets it half down and then spits it up along with bubbly blood and now his just sittin around with his mouth open abit. Any anwsers? im nervous as hell. Thanks in advance.        Tim Cochrane

Hello Tim,

Was the rat bigger around than your snakes mid body? If so this is the problem. The bubbly blood is just the saliva and blood mixed, this helps with the swallowing.
The reason he had his mouth open is because he is stretcheing it to realign his jaw.
