Ball Python in bad shape, advice please

Question
I think this is the fifth site I have emailed for help. I live in MT and there are no reptile vets in this area. I took in a five year old ball python who is in bad shape. She has been eating for me well but when she shed out she shed out in pieces. Before she shed she had red crusty round spots on her and now those spots are falling off and leaving exposed skin that looks raw. There is no sign of infection as far as I can tell but it looks sore. There are no signs of mites or ticks. She also has thick skin over her eyes but I am not sure they are caps as I don't see edges to them. One of the eyes looks a bit "flattened", not completely but some. I am worried and I don't know what to do to help her. I have read some other posts and I have been letting her soak in the tub (but not too deep, too cold, or too hot or unattended) and I have changed her bedding out into paper towel and have moistened her cage more as well. I have also been using baby oil on her to help her skin and am going to use antibiotic ointnent on her wounds but not her eyes until I hear back from you as to what you think I should do about them. Also, what do you think is going on with her skin? What should I do? Poor girl...bad owner before and an owner now who is learning as I go. I know quite a bit about other reptiles but snakes and turtles I am learning as I go. They both came from same place as well as a dog in bad shape. I know what I am doing with the dog though and he is recovering great. Back to the snake...they always had fed her live rats. Could these be old rat bite injuries? I have been trying to get her to eat frozen food but she won't. So, I have gone to multiple mice instead of rats so the risk of injury is much less and although I hate watching her kill and eat them I do watch to be sure she isn't injured. Is there any way I will ever get her to eat frozen food? Help....please

Answer
Please excuse the brief nature of this answer, I am caring for my sick son today and only have a second. Put the antibiotic ointment on her eyes, it is mineral oil based and will not hurt her. Do not use baby oil on skin, just keep soaking her. Keep offering her frozen. BPs can be hard to change over, but thaw it in water and get it nice and hot to kick off those heat pits she has. Just keep trying, you will convert her. If the skin condition does not improve, go ahead and see a vet. Antibiotics will not hurt her even if they do not help. There is no way of knowing what caused the original injuries.
