Corn snake not growing

Question
Hello,
I have a 9 month old female Carolina corn snake, She has been in my hands for 2 months and hasn't shed for 3 months. She has a perfect size tank and on the warm side her temp is 80'F and the cool side is roughly 73'F. On her warm side i have some fake plants and underneath cork-bark as a hide, on the cool side she has a snake cave with damp sphagnum moss inside, and also there's a water bowl (I change the water every other day and use a chlorinator). Along the tank I have a piece of savanna wood which is rough and good to help her shed. The bedding i use is aspen and i clean the whole tank every month.

She is fed on two pinkies every week and has never showed the 'slightest' sign of not wanting to eat, also she has never had any other feeding problems. She always excretes about 2-3 days after eating.

She is perfectly tame moves around allot and has clear eyes and scales. Again she doesn't show any signs of shedding. She weighs 20g and is about 45cm long her girth is about 2cm or more at thickest.

In her tank she tends mostly to stay in her cool hide and I i don't usually see her moving around until about 9:00pm where she goes for a sniff around ect.

All i need to know is the reasons she has not shed for roughly 3 months and isn't showing signs, also why she isn't growing?

Thanks and regards,

James

Answer
Corns do grow slowly. I have a king that is 4 years old and is no more than 28 inches long. I am not sure why, but some just seem to grow faster than others. The shedding concerns me, although I do not think it is a serious problem. As long as the snake is eating, usually all is well. Mist the snake daily and keep your current set-up (it sounds like you are doing about all you can with husbandry). As long as she keeps eating, I would not worry too much. She will shed in time.
