Question
Hello,I am worried about my baby cornsnake, I just bought it about 2 weeks ago.and I just noticed black crusty stuff around the inside of its eye.I also saw 1 black spot on it so I treated my snake, and the tank with mite stuff just to be safe.So i just dont know what to do about its eye.thanks soo much!

Answer
Mites are hard to get rid of. Handle her and make sure that they are indeed mites . If they are, google snake mite removal or snake mite treatment to treat her enclosure. Try some triple antibiotic ointment on the eye. It is mineral oil based and will not hurt the eye. It also helps to suffocate mites that may be in that specific area. A lot of the snake mite treatments on the market are ineffective. Lice shampoo diluted in water or invermectin seem to work well for me.
