Sammi corn snake

Question
I bought my first female okeetee (hypo)corn snake in dec 07, and the assistant, says she was 2 months old. I was feeding her on 1 pinky a week as had been done in the pet store! Last week i bought another corn snake (a candy cane) for my son but this one was 6 months old and alot shorter than sammi. I asked the same man how old Sammi really was as she was alot longer than this one and he said he may have got it wrong and she may be at least 8 months old! I am so confused, i have given her 2 pinkys this week as i am now worried i am underfeeding her as she is 23" long but still very thin. She is also quite lazy compared to the other snake! I also took her to the vet today but he couldn't give me an age for her but agreed she was under weight and thinks she may be about 1 year old! She has shed once the other day but i would like to know her age as close as you could tell me please.

Answer
Hey Rachel

They said she was 2 months and 23"? Hm. Well I'm going to say about 11-12 months. At that length she should be able to take fuzzies, once she gains some weight. 2 pinkies a week sounds about right until she starts gaining some weight and you can determine what girth she is as that is how you gauge what she can handle food-wise. Her being a bit on the lazy side probably has something to do with not getting enough food. That should change once she gains the weight she should have.
