Question
My son in-law has lost a 12 to 14 inch ball python in his house.  He had bought the snake at a pet store.  He tells me that the snake will not hurt the babies.  I am very concerned he is not concerned at all. Please let me know if I am over reacting. They have a 14 month old that has been bit twice in the last week by something that caused a lot of swelling. Once again very concerned!!!!

Answer
Hello Denise,

Ball Pythons will only bite if being bothered by something continuously. They are very docile snakes and will ball up rather than bite. You might want to check around the crib though and check for spiders.

Your son in-laws snake is probably in the wall around the base board. If the snake is not found it will eventually die in the walls. I remember when I was younger and lost a snake it crawled clear across the house and into my sisters shoe. I hope he find it.
