Python isnt shedding

Question
Hi there, we have a 40inch ball python that we believe is between 2-3 years old.  We bought him about four weeks ago from his previous owner since they were moving and couldn't take him with them.  When we got him we noticed a patch of gray fuzzy looking skin on the side of his neck.  At the time his cage was full of gray fuzzy bedding so we just assumed that he had some stuck to him.  It hasn't gone away even though we've changed the substrate to astro-turf and we did soak him in shallow warm water in the bathtub when he first got here.

Secondly, we noticed his belly turn pink for a day or so about two weeks ago.  His eyes went milky blue for several days and from reading online we were ready for him to shed.  His skin went slightly dry looking and we paid very close attention to the humidity level in his cage but it's been two weeks and he hasn't shed.  He also doesn't look dry anymore.  Is this abnormal?  He hasn't shed anything.

So far we think he's great, he's very friendly and seems quite content with his new environment.  Since we're new to snakes we just want to make sure that we're doing the right thing for him.  Thanks for any advice you can give us.

Answer
Regarding the gray area, I would suggest seeing a reptile vet about it. It could be that he has some type of skin infection. It's hard to say without seeing a picture though.

About the shedding...usually after they turn the milky color, they will go back to looking normal, and then shed a day later. I've never heard of one not shedding. Are you sure it's not just mixed in with the bedding? When he's going into his shed cycle, you can add a small hide box made out of any type of plastic container big enough. Cut an entry hole in the side, and fill it with damp sphagnum moss (available from any plant nursery store). This will aid in his shedding process.
