Question
Hi, I hope you can put my mind at rest! I have a corn snake he is bout ft long and just over a year old. I am currently feeding him 3 fuzzies a week the shop where i bought them from gave me a varied size last time i bought them some were quite big but se said this would be ok. i have mixed them in with feed so far and everything has been fine. i have just cleaned the viv and my husband had hold of him and i saw what looked like a tube hanging out of his rectum. this went back in and for a minute or so it looked like his rectum area was cut. this soon disappeared. but it has made me worry. please help this snake is my daughters and she will be so upset if anything is wrong thanks

Answer
If the snake is male, it's possible that what you saw were his hemipenes. As long as they retracted back inside of his body, all is well. It shouldn't have had anything to do with the size of his food items. If I were you, I'd just keep an eye on him, and if you see it happen again, take him to a qualified reptile vet just to be on the safe side.
