vertical lounging

Question
My red tailed boa has recently started lounging with nearly half its body stretched out vertically on the side of it's glass cage. He gets the tip of his nose over half way to the top and just chills there. He's about 2 feet long (maybe a little longer now). He used to spend most of his time either hiding under his half-log or basking. Now he hides, basks, and does his vertically-climb-the-wall-to-chill thing. What could have caused him to start doing this? I've seen snakes do this at Pet Store's.. Should I be worried about my snake?

Answer
Hi Allison
Do not worry at all.  It is completely normal.  Instincts "kick in" this time of the year and they are extra active.  Looking for potential mates and possibly breed.  That being said, they are out and about.  All ten of my snakes are doing the exact same thing.  Just sit back and enjoy your snake as he chills :-)  Take care and thanks for writing.
