Question
Hi I just bought two brother corn snakes about 4 to 5 years old on the 14, and feed them on the 15 they eat perfectly one of them, the brown one shed later that night about 2 days later i noticed my orange Amelanistic was hissing/snezzing and countinus to, he also dosent move as much as he used to like when i got him, he spends most of his time around the water dish unlike his brother who is moving around energeticly, im worried that my Amelanistic might die what should i do. Also how much dose it cost to take snakes to a see a vet.

Answer
It sounds like you should probably take your snake to the vet. The cost really depends on where you go. If you are short on money, you might look to see if there's a vet school at a college near you that might look at the snake for free. Otherwise just find a reptile or exotic vet in the phone book and call them and ask what the cost would be for a first visit exam. Count on it costing about twice as much since your snake may need medications. I am guessing the cost will be about $100 or so.

For some practical advice, I would suggest trying to get a refund for the one snake if at all possible. Most likely it was sick when you purchased it. If that's not possible, you have to look at what you paid for the snake and if it's economically feasible to take it to the vet. If you only paid something like $20 for it, it may not make financial sense to treat it at the vet. I am not trying to sound heartless, but in my experience snakes tend to go downhill fast when they are sick, and even with treatment they sometimes die. So if money is a big factor for you, you may have to look at this from all angles. If you do decide to see a vet, do it as soon as possible for the snake's sake.

Good Luck!!
