Question
Ok first off I upgraded my tank from  a thirtey gallon to a fourty gallon enclosure. With that in mind I purchased a bigger under tank heater. I noticed that my balls seem to really not spend that much time in the heated hide box. now they gravitate towards the cooler hide box. Do you think the heat might be too much for them? Also my oldest ball is at least nine to ten months old. I got a i'm guessing here at least four or five month old. They seem to get along. I know that weekly feedings are sometimes hit,and miss. My nine month old Leonidas is very tamed loves his head rubbed, and really seems to like the attention. Whereas the newer one Monty is still a little skittish. In great fairness, and honesty them not eating regularly be a sign of stress? I just want the best lives for my scaly boys. Any advice, and or help would be appreciated...

Answer
Hey Brian,

It does in fact sound like the hot box is to hot. Pick up a digital infrared thermometer. This will help you in getting the most accurate temps. The temp should be around 90-92 degrees. This is ideal. The snake will decide on where they want to be as far as heat or not. Offering the two hide boxes is great and allows them to feel comfortable in the enclosure.

Let them adjust to the new tank. You really should give them a month before really handling them. I know they might have been held before the new tank, but it is like you moving into a new house. You just need to adjust.

Hope this helps,
Eric
