Question
I need advice about a snake bitten badly by a rat. I think the eyes and mouth are ok. I am thinking keeping it in a bare aquarium (no wood chips) would be best. I would like to hear some suggestions for medication and first aid creams. What about hydrogen peroxide? Better to bath or not? Should the snake be kept warmer than usual? A vet or specialty items are prob not an option. All advice welcome, thanks

NOTE: Please dont yell at me for feeding live food, it's not my snake! I'm just trying to help :)

Answer
Plain paper for bedding, Neosporin or similar antibiotic ointment.  If muscle tissue is exposed (large wounds) the animal will need stitches and you will need to take it to the vet.  They will usually work out a payment plan.  And as you now know NEVER leave a live rodent in the cage with a reptile.
