Snake eyes

Question
Hi Eric

I know you deal mainly with Ball pythons but I was wondering if you could help me with something.

I have a colombian rainbow boa, over the last week or 2 me and my girlfriend noticed something wrong with his one eye.

we noticed that when we look at him from above one of his eyes seems to not stick out normally like the other one.

the other eye is fine though .

we dont know what happened.

any thoughts?

Thank you

Adam

Answer
Hello Adam,

It could be normal.

How swollen is the eye or how flat is the other? If the one looks swollen, you may want to check around the eye for puss, redness or even a pressure white color. Or there could be a chance your snake when burrowing in the substrate pierced that eye and is now blind in it or may have caused an infection in the other from burrowing.

I hope this helps,
Eric
