cloaca red?

Question
I have a new ball python, I have had him for about 4 weeks.  He arrived from the breeder in shed.  The shed did not go well, he partly shed it seems the top half is still coming off.  I had a humid box in the tank but he didnt like it.  The  humidity in the tank is about 70%.   Anyway the breeder suggested letting him shed the rest of the skin next shed.  I fed him a small mouse on monday.  He ate and all went well.  I held him for the first time today he did great but I noticed that around his cloaca area thet it was a little pink, now is this normal for thet area?  I really just dont know if it should be white like the rest of his belly or reddish pink?

Answer
Hello Laurie_Anne,

It is normal for the cloaca area to be a little pink or redish colored.

As far as the shed it would have been hard for you to control the shed when you first got him. You have the humidity at the correct zone. As long as the snake is in good health it should shed a complete skin next time.

Hope this helped,
