QuestionI Have 3 cornsnakes. I keep them together right now. All young close to 3 months old . I know one is male the other 2 not sure yet . I would like to know when they should be separated, to prevent mating, or any fighting. I have gottin mixed info on keeping them together ,. I don't want any mating to happen. Can't find any info on when they get sexually mature. would you be able to help me with this ? thank you
AnswerThe only way to keep them from mating is keeping them all apart until they are properly sexed. I also don't know the sexual maturity of cornsnakes. I'm assuming between 8 months to a year, as I have had a cornsnake lay eggs at an age of 10 months.
As far as housing them together if they are the same sex: Cornsnakes can be kept in groups as long as they are fed in separate containers. The two older cornsnakes I have get along quite well (Both boys) as long as they get fed in different containers.
