Baby corn feeding

Question
I have recently aquired a baby corn snake which I am trying to feed every friday.  The first week I fed him one pinky without incident, the next week I fed him two pinkies again without incident.  Over the following week I noticed him getting ready to shed and then friday morning found that he had completed shedding.  I know corn snakes often wont feed during shedding, but since he was finished I tried feeding him friday afternoon but he took no interest in the food.  While he is not very active on his own and spends most of his time in his hide he is plenty active when handled and I am fairly certain that he is healthy so my main concern is when I should try to feed him again.  I know with adults you can just wait until the next week but I wasn't sure I should wait that long with a baby.  Just wondering what your advice would be.

Answer
Hi Amber,
I have a lot of experience with Kings and they are the same way. I would not be too concerned. I have a Macklot's Python and a D'Albert's Python that go 6 months without eating.

I would wait till the next week and try again, then every 2 or 3 nights afterwards. Try changing things up, feeding live if possible, later in the evening or in mid day. Make sure you have a good temperature gradient and proper husbandry. If you are feeding frozen, try thawing in hot water and feeding when the pinky's temperature is close to your own body heat. Try a rat pinky or a quail chick.

On the negative side, I have had snakes that simply refused to eat until death, no matter what I tried. This is very rare and I would not worry too much unless the corn doesn't feed for 4 weeks.
