Question
Hi Eric,

It seems like as if I rely on you too much !!! .

anywho ...

My Girlfriends carpet python died suddenly .
He has never given her any problems , ever. I mean None whatsoever.
hes always taken food, and always seemed to be active.
But yesterday I had noticed that he was making a loud noise. It almost sounded like a person trying to get up mucus . Then he spit this semi clear goo-ish thing up .
he did it 2 times. Then over the course of the night and early hours of the morning  he probably passed on .

she kept the tank at about 75-85 degrees. Not sure what the humidity was at .

What do you suppose it was that killed him ?

Like I said he's never given us trouble.

Answer
Hello Adam,

It sounds like it may have been a respiratory infection. This could have been prevented by a trip to the vet and some antibiotics.

The best thing to do is research and gather all the info you can on a snake before buying it. If you buy from a pet store verify the snakes are not imported. If a breeder, ask questions about feeding, housing, temps and type of food given.

Hope this helps,
Eric
